How to Get CCNA Certified? Exam, Salary, Training, Online Courses

In this article, we’ll look at how to get CCNA certified and precisely what it takes to become CCNA Certified Routing and to switch to earn a good salary. We have also included the Cisco CCNA certification exam, which tests a candidate’s knowledge and skills related to networking fundamentals.

They will provide you with knowledge and arrange CCNA certification training to teach you how to install, operate, and configure a network.

Indeed, earning CCNA certification is the first step in preparing for a career in IT. Therefore, to earn the Cisco CCNA certification, you must pass an exam covering a wide range of aspects of IT careers. Above all, according to the latest network technologies, software development skills, and professional roles.

Although there are no prerequisites for the 200-301 exam, the Cisco CCNA certification recommends at least one year of experience implementing and managing Cisco solutions. As well as knowledge of primary IP addressing and a solid understanding of basic networking concepts.

How to Get CCNA Certified? Exam, Salary, Training, Online Courses

Recently revamped to use the latest technology and new roles, the CCNA Certification Training Course and Exam gives you the foundation to take your career to the next level. For example, CCNA certification training covers a wide range of topics, including:

  • Networking Fundamentals
  • Network access
  • IP connectivity
  • IP services
  • Security Fundamentals
  • Automation and programmability

The price for the 200-125 CCNA certification exam is $325, while each ICND CCNA certification exam costs $165. Specifically, Pearson VUE is the Cisco test delivery partner.

What is CCNA certification?

Cisco Certified Network Associate Certification (CCNA) certifies your ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot routed and switched networks. Meanwhile, CCNA-certified professionals can establish connections to remote locations over a vast area network (WAN), mitigating primary network security threats. In addition to understanding the basic concepts and terminology of the network.

Additionally, the CCNA certification is Cisco’s most popular certification and one of the most sought-after professional credentials in the technology industry. Therefore, earning CCNA certification is an unusual first step towards a rewarding network administrator or engineer career. Additionally, many Cisco training programs and college degrees offer Cisco networking courses.

In short, the new CCNA certification program has been designed to prepare it for current partner positions in information technology. For example, CCNA now includes security, automation, and programmability. As a result, the program includes a certification that covers a wide range of fundamentals for IT careers, with an exam and training to help you prepare.

What are the prerequisites for CCNA?

The CCNA certification is at the fundamental Cisco certification hierarchy level. Therefore, there are no technical prerequisites for the CCNA exam. This means you can skip previous exams before being eligible for CCNA certification. However, there are age restrictions for any Cisco certification:

Under 13 years: Cannot take the test, even with parental consent.

13-17 years old – You can take the test with parental consent

18 years and older – no age limit

Although Cisco does not have the prerequisites for CCNA certification, the CCNA (200-125) exam may be the best choice for people with one or two years of networking experience. But it would help if you also had an understanding of the exam topics before taking the exam.

CCNA candidates often also have the following:

  • One or more years of experience implementing and administering Cisco solutions.
  • Knowledge of basic IP addressing
  • A good understanding of networking fundamentals

That should only deter those with hands-on experience who still want to take the exam. You must work harder and use the tools at your disposals, such as GNS3 and Packet Tracer.

Note: As we will see in a later section, there are two ways to get CCNA certification. Candidates without networking experience may take the ICND1 exam first and then the ICND2 exam to obtain CCNA certification.

How to Get CCNA Certified?

As with any CCNA certification exam, there are several study materials to help candidates prepare for the CCNA certification exam. Especially when these media are available in different formats; for example, there are study guides, videos (live and self-paced), workbooks, lab guides, practice tests, and more. Some of these documents are from Cisco; others are available.

To this end, Cisco has provided a free online list of approved study materials. You can see some of these study guides in this article. Remember that you must cover all the test content no matter what study material you use.

The study material you decide to start depends on how you learn. Some people prefer videos over textbooks, while others settle down immediately after watching a video. This section provides a sample guide (and plan) for study materials for preparing for the CCNA exam.

Start with the videos at your own pace so you can quickly explore a lot of ground.

This is especially useful if you are new to networking. Seeing concepts explained visually helps a lot in understanding those concepts. However, please don’t rely solely on these training videos; it’s easy to overlook essential concepts when watching videos. Training videos usually deal with more practical aspects of an exam and may hide the theoretical issues necessary for passing the exam.

Get the Official Certification Guide (OCG) for the CCNA Exam

If you only read one guide, know it because it is the only Cisco-approved self-study guide. These guides are usually quite large, but they are worth it. They are available in various formats (e-book, hardcover) from Cisco Press and other libraries, such as Amazon.

Laboratories

Videos and study guides cannot replace hands-on experience. It used to be messy because I needed to access expensive devices like routers and switches. Fortunately, simulation/emulation tools such as GNS3, Packet Tracer, and Cisco VIRL have changed the game. As a rough guide, over 90% of the CCNA exam content can be practiced using these tools.

Practical tests

Unless you’re using landfills (which we don’t recommend), no practice test can show you the questions that will come up on the exam. The best thing you can learn from practice tests is what questions you can expect on an exam. As such, don’t rely too much on your performance in the practice tests to measure your exam success.

Training recommended by the CCNA certification.

Learning takes your career to the next level. Fuel your career with new CCNA Certification training that unlocks opportunities for network engineers and developers. In this article, the updated training and certification program offers a direct route to your tech career aspirations.

In the previous section, we have already discussed study materials that you can use to prepare for the CCNA exam. This section will cover the non-technical preparation steps for the CCNA exam, including the preparation method and schedule.

There are two ways to earn CCNA certification: Take

a CCNA composite exam (currently 200-125)

Take two individual ICND exams (currently ICND1 100-105 and ICND2 200-105). In fact, 200-125 = 100-105 + 200-105

The question then is, “Which path should I take?” Specifically, the answer to this question is entirely subjective and depends on your situation.

Therefore, if you have networking experience or your schedule is adjusted for CCNA certification, take the CCNA composite exam. However, it has more content to cover and more significant risks.

As we said in a previous section, some people choose to complete their studies by attending a boot camp.

Specifically, it’s a mistake to go to a training camp without doing a self-assessment first. Indeed, boot camps are specialized and specific training programs designed to fill gaps in their understanding. You need to learn more about it to benefit from your training as it should.

Although there is no fixed time to study before starting a boot camp, you should attend a boot camp when you are about to take the test. This means that you must have watched videos, guides, and tutorials, which can last anywhere from three to 12 months, according to our previous analysis.

The same reasoning applies to how long you must study before taking the test. Unfortunately, as with any other exam, there is only one way of knowing if you are fully prepared for the exam once you take it! Therefore, when you discover that you have mastered most of the exam topics and are in “paralysis by analysis,”
