WHERE TO GO FOR A HAPPY EXPATRIATION?

EXPATRIATION IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO SEIZE

Expatriation is often a decision made in the context of work. A position that opens on the other side of the world. An opportunity that becomes available in a neighboring country.

But sometimes, the decision is more personal. Sometimes the employee requests a transfer abroad, the self-employed decides to set sail for a more attractive destination, or the pre-retirees think of where to spend a peaceful or more exciting retirement.

More and more French people, freelancers, executives, consultants, and tourism professionals are choosing to leave their native land in a more attractive place for a few years. They go in search of what France sometimes needs help offering them. More promising professional opportunities, a higher standard of living, a quieter quality of life, warmer people…

Others still needed to plan it. During a trip, they fell in love with a city, a people, a country, and a foreigner… and decided to stay put.

IDENTIFY YOUR EXPECTATIONS IN CHOOSING YOUR COUNTRY OF EXPATRIATION

Today, more and more French people are thinking about leaving.

But the choice is difficult when they look at the planisphere and examine the names of cities and possible countries. Where will they be happiest? In which country will integration be the easiest? Which city will offer the best financial opportunities? Where to live a safe family life?

The destination is a decision that is not taken lightly. We think about it as a family.

We weigh the pros and cons of the countries listed on the paper. Professional opportunities, the standard of living, education, security, access to healthcare, local culture, language spoken…

Everything must be taken into account for the most rewarding experience possible.

And when the choice is made, a real professional and human adventure begins.

THE PURPOSES OF EXPATRIATION AFFECT THE CHOICE OF COUNTRY

When studying the happiest countries in the world, the focus was on the native citizens of these countries.

As in previous years, the Nordic countries took the top spots.

This ranking is based on the living standard and the inhabitants’ happiness.

However, you do so for many reasons when you decide to live abroad. These reasons are not all economic. For example, a person leaves a certain financial comfort for a life more by his values .

This is why it is essential to identify the reasons for leaving correctly.

The more your choice aligns with your aspirations, the more beautiful the experience will be.

study by Business Insider reveals that expats’ favorite countries aren’t always ranked as the happiest in the world.

These two lists have significant differences. And the happiness criteria of a country are not always the criteria on which future expatriate bases themselves to choose their destination.

For example, the simplicity of social relations with locals or the quality of life in a country can outweigh high salaries

The World Happiness Report: how is happiness calculated?

Happiness is far from being a fundamental notion. The ranking must therefore focus on specific criteria that are more down-to-earth but contribute to the well-being of the residents of a country. The survey published by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network compares 146 countries on their GDP per capita, healthy life expectancy at birth, social support, freedom to make life choices, generosity, the perception of corruption, and the positive and negative effects of the populations questioned by the Gallup World Poll.

The pandemic has not shaken the happiness of the inhabitants of the countries at the top of the ranking. “The World Happiness Report 2022 reveals bright light in dark times. The pandemic has brought pain and suffering and increased social support and caring. As we battle the evils of disease and war, it is essential to remember the universal desire for happiness and the ability of individuals to rally together in times of great need,” the report’s creators explain.
